Ah, Brattleboro! Got a soft spot in my heart for you, I do, after all these years.

Yes, Brattleboro, where I went to meet my love in the late 70s. We met at a bar where she sat wearing a watch prominently mounted on her slender arm. It was my birthday present, a self-winding Timex that I have to this day. We left the bar and drove across the river to New Hampshire where a friend’s tipi gave us shelter for a summer interlude. You know the one.
Time keeps on ticking.
Ahh, young (ish) love! I vaguely remember that rendezvous. Loved that tipi, and those Lodgepole Pine poles you sold to me. Made for a beautiful home. There was a beautiful shot of the tipi at twilight, lit up by the fire inside; alas, lost to posterity. But both the scene and the photograph remain clear and compelling in my mind’s eye.
